A refreshing start after the Coronavirus pandemic. Creating three visuals for the release of the new Jordan 7 x PSG sneakers in the style of a collage made me very happy and communication with the global brand manager of Nike and Footshop was also a very pleasant experience.
We started with a minimum amount of information, only specifying the visual direction – a collage. That's why I created 3 different concepts.
Collage1
A crossover between football and basketball with a very significant street vibe. Hand-written and then scanned typography: ICI Ç'EST PARIS and PANAME.
There is strong emphasis focusing on this unique connection of football and basketball which is the key of this silhouette. I would like to use the inner pattern of the shoe insole and shapes from Jordan 7 silhouette as accompanying elements.
Collage 2
Very abstract but way more fun! Even though it’s abstract it still contains all those important aspects of this collaboration.
Visuals include gilded shapes of the silhouette from the second slide but at the same time accompanied by a new element cut out from the heel and used as a texture. There should be transitions between individual textures, all has own moves. The hands come into visual from the bottom, the sneakers and ball come from above. The ball can be changing from a football to a basketball while the eye is blinking. The long finger can keep growing and shrinking. Meanwhile, the corners are being torn off and it underneath it exposes a French flag. In the end, the Eiffel tower is going to grow from the ground, and inscriptions and textures will be shown on it.
Collage 3
There is a main connection between the players in a moment when both of them are focusing on one ball. The football player is giving a header to a ball which is held by the ready-to-score basketball player. The ball is the center of the visual and other visual sections contain stuff and places connected to the collaboration Jordan 7 x PSG.
The visual contains the connecting element of a micro illustration of the Eiffel tower from the heel.
Nevertheless, in each of the concepts, I felt I have been missing an idea of connecting Jordan, Paris Saint German, and PANAME. The more I devoted myself to the project and thought about it, I knew that more was needed.
After a lot of researches and conversations about architecture with my friend, I came to the conclusion that the most interesting thing in the context of our collaboration is the Paris brutalist architecture. The people like Le Corbusier, Jean Renaudie, Fernand Pouillon, and others created some of the most unique buildings on our planet. At the same time, their work forms a home in the Paris suburbs, where a large community of people are listening to rap music. One of the most common activities in the Paris suburbs is street football and basketball so everything is starting to make sense to me.
Final visual 1 - Basketball
The first visual presents the iconic colorful balconies of Le Corbusier's legendary panel houses. The next building is one of the "large ensembles" built between 1969 and 1975 and designed by Jean Renaudie and his wife Renée. In the background, I work with concrete and "fake grass" textures, which symbolize the space for playing street basketball. The texture of the basketball amplifies the whole visual message, which is primarily to communicate the basketball part of the collaboration. Moving legs dressed in Jordan 7 x PSG represent random people living in these complexes and form this community. It could be you, for example. Don't forget to watch the video <3.
Final vizual 2 - Paris
The second visual pays homage to the beauty of red sunrises and sunsets over Paris. The colors are lightly colored to match the Jordan’s colors. You can watch this phenomenon the roof of Paris homes. This is why the roofs are in the middle of the visual. Ivry Sur Seine, which was also in the previous visual, during this red sunset or sunrise, turns pink. The reflections in the Grande Arche de la Défense only enhances the elegant impression. Grande Arche is a symbol of the modern La Défense district and also a unique brutalist building.
Final Visual 3 - Football
The last visual is dedicated to football and PSG. The shapes of the Parc des Princes in the background with the texture and concrete are dedicated to this legendary Paris football team. A Soccer ball as an exponentiation element.
